Pentrefoelas

Unusually, there is no public memorial or cenotaph for the war fatalities of Foelas, nor in any building in the village. To all ends, it was an estate village at the time (belonging to the Wynn Finch family of Plas Foelas), and only memorial in the llan is one on the crossroads in memory of Lieutenant-Colonel C. A. Wynne Finch (1841 – 1903). One must travel a mile and a half on the other side of the river to Capel Bethel near Rhydlydan — there lies a plac for 4 of the area’s sons who lost their lives in the Great War.
