Llannefydd is a village and community which sits in north-eastern Conwy county, near the Denbighshire border. The area’s most famous native is the playwright and poet Twm o’r Nant, who was born in Llannefydd in 1738.
The bones of a young Neanderthal boy dating back 230,000 years were discovered in a cave within the parish — the oldest human remains ever discovered in Wales.
However, here I will focus on the area’s dead from 229,000 years later (amongst other stories)! There are 6 names on the village memorial, and I have come across one more who was missed out.
