Died of wounds near Gaza on 16th of July 1917, having been hit on the head by a falling Turkish anti-aircraft shell case while on his way to breakfast. This was during a period of stalemate between the unsuccessful Second Battle of Gaza in April 1917 and the third battle which eventually captured the town in November 1917.
Life / Background:
Robert Charles Williams was born and raised on Tal y Waen farm, Capel Curig, but was living with his wife (Annie) and their baby daughter on Warden Street, Llanberis by the time he enlisted.
